If you are thinking about planting Fruit Trees in Fort Collins, Windsor, Loveland, or anywhere in Northern Colorado, good news is that you can pick quite a few of your favorite fruits that would work well in the Colorado climate. Apples, Pears, Cherries (of the tart variety), plums, nectarines, and peaches are all commonly grown in Colorado, so don’t be afraid to pick a great spot, pick your favorite grafted tree, give it some care, and watch it bloom.

Once your Fruit Tree is fully grown, and you are enjoying that succulent fruit coming from the seeds of your labor, you will have to think about annually Pruning your Fruit Trees. When it comes to Fruit Tree Pruning, there is no better company to help you with that than Diamond Tree Company right here in Fort Collins. Our ISA Certified Arborist, Brett Thomas, has been pruning fruit trees since 2000, and consistently helps farmers and residential growers save their fruit crop from extinction. You may only have one fruit tree, or you may be dealing with over 200 trees on your family farm. Whatever you are in need of, we can provide assistance for. Fruit Tree Pruning is one of our specialties, and we handle each tree with the utmost care.

Diamond Tree Company maintains that the best time to successfully prune your fruit trees is during the winter. This is absolutely the best time because all of the fruit has been picked, all of the leaves have fallen, and pruning can be done with a clear view of the tree.

First, we clean up the tree by removing any and all sprouts that are not best served for growing fruit. We simply call these ‘clean up cuts’, and this part of Fruit Tree Pruning is not taken lightly. To do this, a fruit tree pruning specialist must have very sharp pruning shears so that each cut is flush and perfect.

Second, we  dip into the book of Tree Thinning, and make sure that each Fruit Tree is properly thinned out so that each branch can breathe. If there are any branches that are growing too closely together, we carefully remove select branches to allow for optimal growth of fruit. We carefully remove any dead branches that should no longer be a part of the tree and cannot grow fruit. Lastly, we make sure that any and all branches are growing upward. Any downward branches are given a flush cut and promptly removed.

As with any of our Tree Trimming or Hazardous Tree Removal Services, we remove all cut wood from your property unless otherwise notified.
